Mission
The aim of the Northern Ireland Post Qualifying Education & Training Partnership is to provide a visionary, comprehensive and flexible approach to the determination and management of the arrangements for the delivery of the Northern Ireland Post Qualifying Framework; the framework supports the continuing professional development of social work staff throughout their careers. The partnership collaborates to manage the arrangements for the delivery of the Post Qualifying Framework which supports effective, safe and competent interventions with service users.
To further the mission the NIPQETP works as a partnership representing educational, professional and employer interests. The NIPQETP also works closely with the DHSSPS and the NISCC.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Department of Health and Social Services and Public Safety
DHSSPS has responsibility for setting the policy that underpins social work education and training and gives consent to the rules and requirements of the NI PQ Framework as written by the Northern Ireland Social Care Council.
The Northern Ireland Social Care Council
NISCC has responsibility for writing the rules and requirements of the NI PQ Framework, including setting standards for the operation of the Framework and the approval of the PQ Partnership. The Council confers the awards of the NI PQ Framework.
The Northern Ireland Post Qualifying Education and Training Partnership
NIPQETP has responsibility to determine and manage the arrangements within the NI PQ Framework for the provision of post qualifying education and training in Northern Ireland.
The Partners
The Northern Ireland Post Qualifying Education and Training Partnership is comprised of a range of bodies. The members or partners come from the voluntary, statutory, criminal justice, education welfare and social work education institutions involved in the delivery of Post Qualifying Education and Training.
